Nieuwland Hall of Science and Stepan Hall

Nieuwland Hall of Science — between the Hesburgh Library and LaFortune Student Center on the North Quad — is the long-time home of the Department of Physics and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and now the new home of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

The adjoining Stepan Hall is home to the Chemical and Biomolecular first-year graduate student office as well as the:

Materials Characterization Facility, which offers equipment and instrumentation to support advancements of sustainable energy technologies and systems, as well as the characterization and synthesis of any new materials.

Biophysics Instrumentation Core Facility, which offers instrumentation for characterizing biomolecular conformations and interactions and equipment for the isolation and purification of macromolecules for biophysical analysis.
